As CEO, Jean oversees day-to-day operations, while also charting the future for Zambezi. Schooled with a master's degree from Northwestern, she has a range of experience on both agency and client side. Prior to joining Zambezi, Jean worked at Nike and Intel in their strategy groups. She's passionate about entrepreneurship, tennis, and her family, which includes her husband and two imaginative kids. Jean has successfully helped Zambezi grow from a start-up to what it is today—a thriving agency named Small Agency of the Year by Ad Age and one of the top largest women-owned businesses by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Gavin’s career has spanned twenty years and two continents. He has worked in London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, for agencies such as 180LA, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, BBH London and NYC. Before becoming Zambezi’s first Chief Creative Officer, he was EVP, Executive Creative Director at Deutsch L.A., where he led creative for Sprint. Gavin considers work that speaks for itself, taps into the desires of consumers and is effective for brands, and represents for the entire industry; to be the holy trinity of advertising. When he is not rearing his two children, he’s busy rearing his fostered pot-belly pigs, chickens, rabbits, and the occasional goat.
KJ’s story of why she came into advertising begins with impressionable beginnings—watching ET with her Mom at 8 years old and acutely understanding the powerful suggestion that if an alien loved those buttery bites of Reese’s Pieces, she should too. Little has changed from the observant kid who understood then the power of effective branding and culture, to becoming the Chief Strategy Officer who leads Zambezi’s strategy and analytics team today. Going "big" into the culture is KJ’s forte; previously the Cultural Intelligence Officer at mcgarrybowen, KJ isn’t the kind of CSO who reads and researches trends, she’s in them experiencing and exploring. Her magic power is looking for inspiration in unexpected places, whether she’s chasing Caribbean Carnival around the world, or learning from street wear designers how to re-frame a luxury car.
Chris co-founded Zambezi in 2006 and still strives to create an environment that inspires forward-thinking creativity. He has built an adaptable agency structure and a team of T-shaped experts (ask him what "T-shaped" means). Chris oversees all partnerships, business development, and the evolution of the agency, while still being intimately involved in clients' business every single day. Before Zambezi, Chris worked at famous agencies like Wieden+Kennedy on the Nike business, and Fallon before that. Chris lives with his wife, son and daughter. They haven’t formed a band. Yet.
Pete Brown has never been one for spectator sports—and there’s good reason—he’d rather be participating. It’s this over-achiever, results-oriented outlook that’s driven Pete across the finish line of countless marathons and triathlons, but also to become Zambezi’s Managing Director. After nearly a decade at Fallon in Minneapolis, Pete headed to Los Angeles to thaw out and help build Zambezi from a four person shop, to Ad Age’s Small Agency of the Year. Pete takes a hands-on approach to managing the agency, understanding his client’s business and architecting a plan to drive results. Not surprisingly, his involvement reaches across every campaign delivered by the agency.
If you enjoy artisan coffee in an ambient setting, talking about the integrity of design; then you need to drop by Kevin Buth’s office one morning. A perfectionist by nature and designer by trade, Zambezi’s Creative Director, Kevin Buth, is your quintessential aesthete. Armed with a gift for complex problem solving and an aversion to taking the easy way, Kevin is responsible for creating some of Zambezi’s most known work and growing the creative team. He now heads up all creative direction on the agency’s longest standing client; TaylorMade adidas, in addition to other Zambezi projects.
Described best as an executive producer of incredible caliber—equal parts writer, director and think-tank—it is actually Alex’s immaculate story-telling, not his story, that sets him apart. As Head of Content at Zambezi, Alex heads up the agency’s most diverse team, which includes developers, editors, digital, integrated and TV producers. Together the team produces all online and broadcast content, digital campaigns and even the odd hologram. Prior to joining Zambezi in 2011, Alex had run his own production company. His feature film credits include generation defining films like Philadelphia, Men in Black and Sleepers. He’s written and produced content for Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, Super Deluxe, The History Channel, Bravo, The Tonight Show, Fremantle Entertainment and many more.

Behind her cheerful demeanor Josie Brown hails from a long line of fierce warriors—a native of New Zealand Josie is the living embodiment of "Smiling Warriors" that Zambezi recruits; competitive and hard on the work but never on the team. After nearly a decade in London working at the likes of Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann Erickson, Young & Rubicon and iris worldwide, leading client services on flagship accounts such as L’Oreal Paris, Revlon, Colgate, Sony Ericsson, adidas and T-Mobile, Brown emigrated to the United States in 2013 and took on the role as Head of Business Development at Omelet. Josie’s responsibilities cover all marketing, public relations and new client growth for the agency.
